We understand organising a wedding is one of the most stressful things you’ll ever do… So we’re here to listen and support you from start to finish and help you make the decisions that create the wedding of YOUR dreams (not someone else’s).
“One thing I’d say about Metropolis is… you are not setting your ways and you don’t expect the customer or your clients to mould their way around you. You do listen, and you do take the time to understand them..."Debbie & Kyle - Syon Park, London.
2. Work With A Band You Like!"
Regardless of how good your band are on stage, we know it’s important to be helpful and likeable every step of the way. It’s essential to create a calm and relaxed, and above all, enjoyable environment, where you can get to know us as people. Working with us means, your emails get replied to and your calls get taken.
“What a delight to meet and greet you all last Saturday. We thought we would send you a selection of 'thank you to the band and comments' from a selection of the cards we have received from friends”Liz & John Gladwin
3. Get A Professional Service & Great Communication
Helping our clients through this often first time process is so important to us. Just because we do this all the time, doesn’t make it any less daunting for you. We run our band just like a business. In fact that’s exactly what we are. So you can expect the same levels of professionalism as if you were buying a premium holiday or car. Thorough quotations, friendly communication, legally binding contracts, safety testing... the list goes on.
“Thanks for your professionalism, support and guidance and for making our wedding everything we could of asked for and more!!”Edward & Layla, Berkeley Castle.
4. Get A Band Always Creating Magical Memories.
With the invention of cameras and videos, memories last forever. We’ll take the time to learn about you, ensuring that those memories are incredible, so you and future generations can experience the unique atmosphere from your wedding. Over the last 15 years we’ve created systems and processes to discover exactly what music you and your guests will love. Fantastic and spontaneous performances come from decades of experience. What we do doesn’t happen by accident!
“We thought you were amazing, our guests thought you were amazing, you really created an unbelievable atmosphere and made it such a special day for us!”Elliot & Jess, The Landmark Hotel London.
5. Have Amazing Levels Of Musicianship.
Working with us means you get great musicians performing at their best. This is how you ensure your dance floor is always full and it’s one of the main reasons why people book Metropolis. Having a team of musicians who have all performed at the highest levels is the key to this. We can name drop with the best of them; but one thing that sets us apart is both Toby & James (the directors), have impressive CVs as professional musicians too. This ensures, nothing slips though the net.
“Being a professional musician it of course made sense...Well rehearsed, great arrangements, tight playing, great singers; each of them are extremely good at what they do. These were the top notch players I wanted.”Matt West (Professional Musician & Client), White Dover Barns, Suffolk.

6. Engaging Performances with Something For Everyone
Having a band perform at your at your special event should never feel like an ‘us and them’ experience. It should be an ‘inclusive experience’ for all. The key thing is to engage all age groups with the right music at the right time. There’s nothing wrong with asking for that classic rock track your Dad loves or that slow dance that reminds your grandparents of their wedding. We’ll play those songs and work with you to put them in the right place.
“Yeah, like you said, inclusive of all age groups. Everyone’s a fulfiller, every someone there was a crowd pleaser, wasn’t it? So... yeah that was great. We loved it. It’s nice as well when the singers, when one of the girls did it and Nick did it, brought down on the stage and was singing on the dance floor and dancing with people while they were singing it– Added a really nice element. It brought everyone together and made everyone feel [great]” Vicky Nurse, Micklefield Hall. (part 2).
7. ‘One-stop Shop’!
Creating stress free and easy entertainment planning situation will give you maximum time to enjoy celebrating your engagement. All to often brides & grooms end up booking five suppliers when they could just be dealing with one. Not only do you reduce the amount of organisation you have to do, reduce risk of miscommunication, you’ll also make quite a significant saving. Hence it’s not uncommon for top event professionals to book us to fulfil all of their musical and technical requirements for the day.
“ ... obviously my previous work with the production and everything— It had all the sound and all the bits and pieces... But it’s just nice to have a one-stop shop where you don’t have to worry about anything. They’ll just come in, do everything for you, and the music quality is incredible.” Andy goes on to explain what another guest who is also in the entertainment industry with experience of booking bands said...“...he was blown away by Metropolis. Basically just... you know, how all round, it’s all professional, how the singer had basically the whole dance floor at the palm of his hands. And it’s just... the whole flow. I’ve been away with him a few times and seen some of the function bands that they used. And they get away with it... kind of badly... The guys who came to see this (were) blow away by it all, and just thought it was just really really well done”.Andy Nurse, Micklefield Hall.
8. Get A Band Who Listens First
We never tell people what they’ll get, we always work with them and ask questions before we send out a quote. Copy and paste parties just aren’t our thing. We get itchy feet and more importantly you don’t get the wedding you deserve. We feel the secret to this is what clients would like rather telling them how it should be done.
“The biggest thing, I think, lacks today in the entertainment industry, is people that listen. You listened to what we wanted... And the hotel in question, that's put on some massive events, said it's the best event that they've ever done in 20 years. That sums it up”.Adrian Pike, Anesco.
9. Ensure Your Band Is Sensitive To The Environment
When performing music at your wedding, we know it’s not always appropriate to be the centre of attention all the time. It’s not uncommon for some bands to blast music all the way through reception and dinner, often ruining conversations and running out of steam before the big party. This is why we take care to pace our performance when we are playing throughout an event and keep a close eye on how your guests are responding to the music. We never perform the same set twice because no two weddings should be ever the same.
“We had every aspect of the performance exactly how we wanted it. The music was soft enough for people to talk, but some people would dance during dinner, after dinner... The music was fantastic. It was a real party atmosphere, everyone was dancing.... (there was) A great feeling about the evening... the guests had an amazing time, the family had a wonderful time, and more importantly the bride and bridegroom were over the moon with everything”.Gill Tookman, Mother of the Bride to Adam & Amy. Louise Blouin Foundation.
10. Metropolis Goes Above & Beyond...
Even when we set the bar so high, we’ll always try and exceed expectations. We’re a business which is constantly evolving. To move forward we find the best place to gain inspiration is to talk to our clients. Believe it or not, you are the best place to find the ideas which set us apart from the others.
“Your artists were most helpful and performed to our complete satisfaction. They played really well, were pleasant to deal with and the repertoire was excellent. Always smiling and generous with the music, they were a major contribution to the party’s success... So, full marks to them and yourselves, with honours, for having done as well and above what we thought would be achieved”.Baron Winspere, 42 Berkeley Square, London.
