Corporate Function Band Hire: Will the band dress appropriately both on and off the stage?
Blog Three: Will the band dress appropriately both on and off the stage?
It’s probably not the first thing you think about when you’re choosing a band. After all, it’s the music that you’re interested in, right? But don’t forget that your chosen band will be on display from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. So it’s absolutely vital that they are dressed appropriately for the nature of your event.
Fitting in is good
From small informal house parties to lavish black tie weddings in top London hotels, when on stage your band members should obviously reflect and fit into the nature of your event. Find out what options your band has and decide what’s appropriate. If you’ve got your own ideas then don’t feel scared to suggest them and see if they’re receptive. Flexibility is the hallmark of a professional outfit.
A little respect goes a long way
Don’t forget, it’s not just when the band is on stage that their dress needs to be appropriate. More often than not a band will come in to contact with the guests when they are off stage, and a drummer in ripped jeans and a barely-decent t-shirt may not be quite the feel you’re looking for during a refined drinks reception!
Front men and not-so-front men
If your event is particularly smart, it may be prudent to ask what your band’s technicians wear - this is all part of professional corporate function band hire. While this is normally fairly relaxed due to the physical nature of the work, if they will be working in close proximity to the guests, it’s not unreasonable to request a suit and tie. Feel free to state your preference.
Key questions to ensure your band dresses appropriately at all times:
What is the standard choice of stage wear?
Will your band provide you with options for how they dress?
What does your band’s crew wear?
What will they wear on arrival and during sound check?
