For those of you that regularly read the Metropolis blog you’ll know we take the technical side of what do very seriously. Having recently been described as a ‘train spotter’ by Toby (Metropolis Partner) in client meeting I think it’s safe to say it’s something I’m passionate about. A major part of the arsenal is a trusty MacBook Pro and Apple Mainstage Programming.

What Is Apple Mainstage?

Apple Mainstage is an incredibly powerful piece software that was originally part of the Logic Studio 9 package. It enables you to create an interface specifically designed for live music performance. This is based on the Logic Pro software that is normally only found in recording studios.

How do Metropolis use Apple Mainstage?

Metropolis use Apple Mainstage to run audio playback. Any of the big pop acts be it Beyonce or Take That, will employ these tools to enhance their performance. We take the same production standards as any of these artists and put them in a wedding or corporate events environment.

Why use playback?

Many current chart hits rely on advanced studio techniques to create their signature sound. With conventional instrumentation this is hard to reproduce live or is simply unplayable by a human. By using this technology we can attack the latest Rihanna  or Jessy J track with unparalleled authenticity.

What sounds do you find on track?

This could be anything from sound effects, electronic drums, synthesizers all the way through to extra percussion parts, acoustic guitar and backing vocals.
